Spring is in the air

Ahhh yes, it’s that time of year again. Sun shining, birds chirping, and the Columbia train a rollin!! Our first show with the new lineup is this Saturday at the Cellar. It’s not going to be the rock n roll ruckus it normally would, but we’ve reworked the songs for an acoustic set and they sound great. I’m especially happy with a new one called “The Streets”. I get to monkey around with some effects that make my guitar sound like a digital 12-string. Pretty cool :D

Things have been pretty exciting for me as of late. Traynor is on board as a sponsor and I can’t wait for my amp to arrive. It sounds amazing and I’m looking forward to making some noise with it. Lots of noise!!! Also I just got a new tattoo. A raven on my chest. Dewey Cox would be proud! I’ll post a pic ASAP :)

Cheers

Ben’s First Blog

Hey guys!  After a few crazy weeks, I finally have a chance to say “hey”, introduce myself, and talk a bit about what’s coming up.  As some of the other guys have already said, I’m Ben, the new drummer in Columbia, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the band.  Thanks for the warm welcome!
We’ve been working hard practicing over the last couple of months bringing Jordan and I up to speed on the old tunes, while working on some great new ones as well!  We can’t wait for you to hear them.  Speaking of hearing new songs, tomorrow night we are meeting with our new producer, Jeff Dawson, to discuss our next recording(s).  Exciting stuff!  We should be in the studio within a month, so you won’t have to wait too much longer!
Another real exciting thing coming up is our show with Gordie Johnson May 19th @ The Cellar.  If you don’t know who Gordie Johnson is, he is the frontman of Big Sugar and Grady, two killer bands.  A funny side note, I went to the Juno awards when I was a little kid, and Big Sugar was infront of my Dad and I in the will call lineup.  You can grab tickets here
Totally unrelated, I got lost in the new Ikea in Richmond yesterday.  I followed the “shortcut to exit” signs, and they seriously took me in a circle.  I went through the same departments at least 3 or 4 times.  That, and the fact that the place is built like an above ground bomb shelter (do those exist?), I couldn’t get any cel phone reception.  I figure if I were to be trapped somewhere forever, Ikea might be the place.  They really do have everything, including their magical sparkling apple drink
Talk to you all again soon!

So I was walking down the street one day…

Hello Peeps and Peepettes!

This is my first official blog since joining Columbia, so there’s a lot of pressure and so much to say!  I thought to myself, what should I write about?  I guess I could tell the whole sordid story of how a random meeting with Kevin and Rich on New Years Eve and them calling me on my drunken offer to write turned into me eventually joining Columbia, or I could tell the story of betting Kevin that he couldn’t eat 5 Big Macs in 20 minutes (I won), or I could talk about how Grimy (or Gam Gam) hit me in the face with a foam sword while watching Game of Thrones, or I could tell the story of waking up on Kevin’s floor cuddling a Columbia bear (which you can get in the online store)… but I’m sure none of you really want to hear about that.

So here’s a picture instead:

This picture sums up the excitement that I feel about joining Columbia and all the amazing stuff coming up for Columbia, with the new sponsors, the big show on May 19th and going into the studio with Jeff Dawson, it makes me feel like clapping!  It’s unfortunate that Mr. T-Rex has too short of arms to join in the excitement, but that doesn’t mean it should bring us down now does it? No it doesn’t. So join our ride, let’s get this going and start the world domination.

So in closing.

Don’t stop believing, and keep on rocking in the free world.

Jordan

The Columbia family is complete!

We’re so happy to announce that Columbia has two amazing new full time members. First is Guitarist Jordan Carriere, who is best know for being the lead singer in the band Static in Stars. The second addition is Ben Firth on Drums. Ben has been in various bands and has toured all across North America! With these amazing new additions we’re going into the studio to work on our next radio single with famed producer Jeff Dawson. Expect to hear lots form the new guys on Facebook, here and of course Columbia’s Twitter account. Welcome boys! Kevin, Richard & Graeme.

Practice makes perfect

Hey guys,

We’ve been working real hard lately finishing up more demos before we hit studio later this spring and working on putting our live set together again so we can get back out there doing some gigs. The new songs we have been writing have been sounding amazing now that we’ve been able to try them out in a full band setting. Live volume and working in drums etc has made these songs even bigger than they were before. I can’t wait to get back to tour so we can show you all in person what we have been working towards.

Thanks to everyone who has joined the fan page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Columbia-Fans/327391580630507) Our ladies behind the scenes have done a great job building the group up and the more people join the more contests and giveaways we are gonna have. Spread the word and join the Columbia family!

Keep checking in with us over the next little bit because we have some big news coming up and I gotta tell you it makes me feel like a big shot lol

Cheers,
Graeme

P.S. I want this dog

I'd name him awesome

First of all, we are delighted to have passed 10,000 followers on Twitter. We are proud of this huge accomplishment, and YOU should be too! A lot of new fans have been a direct result of existing fans spreading the word. Thank you so much for helping us get our music to a worldwide audience! We also have a new fan club on facebook. We owe a special thanks to Anastasia and Thamy for setting that up, and for being amazing as always :)

Click here for the fanpage linke. Make sure you visit and check out the girls’ hard work!

We’ve been working like animals to get new songs written and recorded for you. The demos are sounding great and we’ll be hitting the studio in a month or so. You’ll be informed don’t worry! Also we’ve been jamming with some new friends lately. Always good  to make some noise with good musicians. Very exciting times ahead for sure…..

Off to bed now. Once Lord of The Rings is done, of course :)

Radio Time!

Hey People!

We’ve been working hard lately finishing up demo’s for the past little while but now we get to step out and have a little fun. Last night we jammed with a hopeful drummer at Red Savage’s Jam Space and I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun it was just to be able to play full blast again. I enjoy few things more than just being able to jump around and sing at the top of my lungs.

Saturday night you guys are gonna get a chance to hear some of the brand new songs we have been working on when we play at http://www.hotshotbands.com/ at 8pm PST. You will be getting two new live songs from us as well as playing some favourites from the album over the hour. Tune in and tell your friends!

Cheers,

Graeme

A.D.I.D.A.S.

Hi everyone, how’s things? It’s been a crazy month, little sleep and lots of fun times. We’re going strong and getting so much done. It’s funny how many little things have to be done to keep the band running like a tight ship. Floating like a tight ship? Hummm, u know what I mean. We’re happy to announce we’ll be playing live on HSB Radio on Saturday March the 3rd. We’ll be playing two new never before heard tracks as well as sitting down with C.C. the DJ for an Interview.  All the links and that will be up soon. Other than that, we’ve been playing with some new ppl and might just have the Vancouver super band in place soon lol. Keep in touch and thanks.

Peace, Love  & A.D.I.D.A.S.

Kevin
